This child may have died in 1929. Per recollection of Mary Moore O'Connor he died from drowning in Brant Lake. The evening of the day he died she and some friends were to have a skating party in the bay across the lakefrom MMOC's house. They said goodbye to Gerald in the afternoon and his friend Ralph Smith. Ralph and Gerald then got into Ralph's old station wagon and the two boys went driving up the frozen surface of the lake. When they arrived near the Palisades Hotel there was a crack in the ice..it was always the last area to freeze over and the car went through the ice. Ralph escaped but Gerald was drowned.
