DEATH
BERKSHIRE, Maud Parsons
Pasadena, NL
Maud Parsons Berkshire, 93 years, of Pasadena, died serenely after a brief illness on Tuesday, December 27, 2005. Born in Clattice Harbour, Placentia Bay, Maud moved to Corner Brook in 1936 where she married Frank Berkshire. In 1979 Maud and Frank moved to Pasadena. A woman of great faith, Maud generously volunteered her time and energy to church and community activities and to those in need. All Hallow's Parish in Humbermouth and Holy Rosary Parish in Pasadena were near and dear to Maud's heart. Maud worked tirelessly for many charitable organizations, including the Red Cross and the Cancer Society. The Humber Valley Senior Citizens' Club became a focal point for Maud and Frank after their move to Pasadena. Maud was able to live independently during the last twelve years of her life because of the love and support she received from the Seniors' Club and her many friends in Pasadena, including Don and Ruth Hickey, Sue Simms, Florence Anderson and her great friend, Darryl Carter. Maud lived a very full life, rich in family, friends and social activities that included her favourite pastime, playing cards at the Seniors' Club, the Knights of Columbus Club and at home. Maud is survived by her children Margie (Ev) McLean, Frank (Betty Ann), Shirley Hartery, Myrtle Blinn, and Sarah (David) Walker; her grandchildren Stefanie, Natasha and Nadia McLean; Frank III, Tobi and Brian Berkshire; Maria, John, Michael and Christopher Hartery; Denise, Christopher and Lori Blinn; David and Stephen Walker, and 23 great grandchildren. Maud is also survived by her loving sister Mary Hickey of Pasadena. Maud was predeceased by the love of her life, husband Frank, and sons-in-law Gordon Blinn and Jack Hartery. Visitation will take place at Holy Rosary Church in Pasadena on Thursday, December 29th, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 30th. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fillatre's Funeral Home. For those who would like to make a donation in Maud's memory, the family would appreciate donations to Western Memorial Hospital Foundation to be directed to the new patient/family lounge on Floor 3A/3B
