Mr. and Mrs. Leo Ostwald of Snyders Lake, were guests of honor at n recent 25th wedding anniversary party at the Eastwood Inn, Averill Park, given by their children, Robert, Richard and Linda Ostwald. The Ostwalds were married Oct. l, 1949 in St. Lawrence's Church, Troy. Among the 100 guests at the party were Bessie Ostwald and Frank Ostwald who attended the couple at their wedding.

NORTH GREENBUSH -- Leo M. 'Ozzie' Ostwald, 72, of Geiser Road, died Friday at his residence after a brief illness. Born in Troy, he was son of the late Frank and Katharina Hart Ostwald and beloved husband of Elizabeth A. Bielass Ostwald for 51 years in Oct 2000. He had resided in Brunswick for 20 years and Snyders Lake North Greenbush area since 1949. They wintered in Florida since their retirement. Mr. Ostwald was employed as a plumber for the Plumbers and Steam Fitters Union Local 7 for 50 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Northeast Stock Car Old Timers Association, a stock car enthusiast, drove stock car at area tracks from 1947-61 and was a follower of the Winston Cup Series and Bill Elliott. He was also a member of the Geerholt-Rehm Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post # 7396 in Wynantskill, Plumbers and Steam Fitters Local 7 Retirees and a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church in North Greenbush. He was an avid Harley motorcyclist for many years; a fan of flea markets and a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Robert W. Ostwald of Jacksonville, FL and Richard J. Ostwald of Wynantskill; a daughter Linda S. Pierceof Wynantskill; four sisters Katherine Petruska of North Troy, Dorthea Dorfner of Troy, Bertha Hogan of Latham and Gertrude Debboli of Plainville, CT; a brother Lawrence Ostwald of Saratoga Springs; 10 grandchildren; a great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by six brothers John, Frank,George, Carl, Joseph and Gerard Ostwald. Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. from the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenue Troy and at 9:30 a.m. from St. Michael the Archangel Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Interment New Rural Cemetery in Rensselaer. Contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Ostwald to The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144.
