obit: Gorham (Maine) 12 March 1978 Robert A. straw, 81, of the Straw Road, died unexpectedly Sunday at a Westbrook Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Limerick, the s/o Arthur J. and Mary Roberts Straw. He attended the schools of Newfield and Gorham. Mr. Straw had owned and operated his own dairy farm here most of his life. In 1953 he and his son Mahlon R. Straw were awarded a plaque for being Cumberland County's outstanding 1953 Conservation farmers. Mr. Straw had served as Road Commissioner for the town for several years and was a fifity year member of the North Scarborough Grange. His wife Jennie Deering Straw died in 1975. He is survived by a son Mahlon R. of Gorham; a daughter Mrs Ethel S. Rowe of West Buxton; a brother Luther of Gorham; two sisters: Mrs Marion Prescott of Portland and Mrs. Lillian Butler of New Glouchester; 14 grand children and 26 great grandchildren. Services: Neal and York Funeral Home Interment: South Gorham Cemetery

(Jennie Smith Deering was born on 12 Aug 1898 in South Portland, Maine, died on 1 Jul 1975 in Hospital in Glens Falls, New York and was buried in South Gorham Cemetery in Cumberland County, Maine.)
