A memorial service for Boring resident Michael Wesley Straw will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2009, at the Sandy Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 16317 SE Bluff Rd. Michael passed away June 23, 2009, in Boring at the age of 60. Michael was born January 1, 1949, in Portland, Oregon, the son of Merle and Shirley (Howerton) Straw. He was raised and educated in Glide, Oregon, graduating from Glide High School in 1969. After high school Michael continued his education through Portland Community College. On June 22, 1991, in Glide, OR he married Tammy Nelson. Michael worked for the Oregon State Transportation Services Department of Motor Vehicles for 13 years. Michael loved to fish, sports, cars and all of nature. He is survived by his wife, Tammy Straw of Boring; two daughters, Jennifer Olave of Vancouver, Washington; Carina Gilmore of Tualatin, Oregon; two sisters, Karen Thompson of Salem, Oregon; Susan Molitor of Portland; two brothers, Steve Stringham of North Pole, Alaska; Scott Stringham of Portland,and six grandchildren. The family suggest contributions to the American Cancer Society.There will be another memorial in Glide, OR by the end of the summer.
