Layton Leroy Straw
General Notes: Born in Nebraska he moved as a young boy with his family to Madison, SD and from there to Woodstock, Pipestone, MN where he got part of his schooling.The family then returned to Madison, SD. From there they went to Eagle City, OK where Layton finished his schooling.Then the family returned to Woodstock, MN and Layton married Mary Pew there in 1924 in Holland, MN. This couple had 7 children. Mary Pew died in 1974. Layton married a second time to Marie Rinne in 1970 in Canton, OK. From there they moved to Stotts City, MO where they lived for 4 years. They then relocated to Sarcoxie, MO in 1976. He had no issue with Marie Rinne. Layton farmed and did custom work for others, then drove a big truck for 18 years and worked in Carthage Mill, then in Avilla Mill. (Layton's account of his life dictated to his wife Marie and passed to Mary and Ray Straw in 1980.) Layton married Mary Elizabeth Pew, daughter of Hiram Terry Pew and Lydia Pulhon, on 24 Aug 1924 in Holland, Pipestone County, Minnesota. (Mary Elizabeth Pew was born on 12 May 1904 in Kankokee, Illinois, died on 3 Sep 1974 in Stotts City, Missouri and was buried in Cave Springs Cemetery, Jasper County, Missouri.) Layton next married Emma Anna Marie Eden, daughter of Ede Eldon Eden and Anna Marie Charlotte Kuhlman, on 26 Nov 1970 in Canton, Blaine Co, OK. (Emma Anna Marie Eden was born on 16 May 1902 in Johnson, Nemaha County, Nebraska, died on 21 Aug 1994 in Enid, Garfield County, Oklahoma and was buried 23 Aug 1994 in in Lockwood Cemetery, Lockwood, Dade County, Missouri.) |
