obit: (Joplin Globe, The - Aug/27/2005) Raymond Leroy Straw, age 64, Joplin, passed away at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at his residence. Mr. Straw was born Jan. 31, 1941, in Sioux Falls, S.D., to the late Jim Straw and Mae Turner and had lived in Joplin since 1982, moving from Iowa. He worked at Lozier Corporation for several years retiring in 2005. He was a lifetime mechanic and enjoyed hunting and woodworking. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He married Phyllis Davis on June 10, 1972, in Des Moines, Iowa. She survives at the home. Additional survivors include his son, Schel Straw, Iowa; daughters, Terri Davis, Joplin, Kelli Whitenberg, Joplin, Terri Thomas, Colorado, Staci Bell, Iowa, and Traci Keck, Kansas City, Mo.; one brother, Jim Straw, Neosho; five sisters, Marilyn Perkins, Nebraska, Donna Lundy, Missouri, Bobbi Straw, Mavis Straw and Candes Straw, all of South Dakota; and 11 grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by two brothers, Orville Straw and Dean Straw. Raymond has been taken for cremation. No formal services are planned.
