"Fergus joined the Royal NAvy on Aug 29, 1941. He was serving on the HMS Grove when it was torpeoded north of Sollum by U Boat 77 on June 6, 1942. the HMS Grove was a Hunt Class Destroyer 9built in 1940) used to protect convoys on the North Atlantic run (Ships of the Royal Navy by Colledge p.246) On March 27, 1942, HMS Grove assisted other destroyers sink a U-Boat. don't know if Fergus was on the ship at that time."
