Dougherty, Edward "Jack" Jr. ALBANY Edward "Jack" Dougherty Jr., 87, died Friday, January 13, 2017, at the Atria at Crossgates. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Edward J. and Mary (Owens) Dougherty Sr. Mr. Dougherty was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy, class of 1948, and Albany Business College. He was a tax examiner with the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance for 43 years, retiring in 1991. He was an active member of CSEA, having served as a chapter president, on the board of directors and on various committees. He was a communicant of Christ the King Church in Westmere. Mr. Dougherty also volunteered at St. Peter's Hospital for many years. He was predeceased by his wife, Irene (Foster) Dougherty; and daughter, Christine M. Dougherty; and brother, Frank W Dougherty. Survivors include his sons, Timothy S. (Nance) Dougherty Sr. of Albany, and Thomas M. (Peg) Dougherty of Depew, N.Y.; grandchildren, John W., Christine M., Deanna L., Lindsay R., Timothy S. Jr., and Michael J. Dougherty of Albany and Sean Patrick and Mary Kathleen Dougherty of Depew; sister-in-law, Elda Dougherty of Syracuse; seven great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family Thursday, January 19, 2017, from 4-7 p.m. in the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home, Inc., 490 Delaware Ave. The parish family of Christ the King will gather at 4:30 p.m. in the funeral home for a service of prayer and remembrance. All are welcome. His funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, January 20, 2017, at 10 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 20 Sumter Ave., Westmere. Edward married Irene Mary Foster, daughter of Joseph John Foster Jr. and Mary Adele Galvin, on 6 Oct 1951 in St. James Church, Albany, NY. (Irene Mary Foster was born on 15 Sep 1931 in Albany, Albany County, New York, died on 8 Aug 2002 in St. Peter's Hospital, Albany, NY and was buried in St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands, NY.). The cause of her death was ruptured heart valve.

Edward next married Living
