Alfred Hedrick Tipton born Aug.23, 1846, son of Salina (Hedrick)
and John B Tipton, He was born in Tennessee. County and City
unknown.
He homesteaded SW 1/4 Sec. 25, T18N R19W on Nov. 2, 1885, Certif.
He married Naomi Etta Straw Aug. 17, 1889 at Broken Bow, Custer
County, NE. He was 41 and she was 20. Have a copy of their
marriage record. This info. from Custer Co, NE. Historical
Society.
Death Certificate states that he died April 14, 1923 at Broadus,
Power River, Co, MT. and that he was a Invalid cripple. Lived in
city last 10 years.
Note: Had brother William fought in Civil War. Sister Mary
(Tipton) Dunlap.
They both resided at Elton, NE a post office about 12 miles
northest of Broken Bow which was discontinued in 1926 so it no
longer shows on any maps. It was never a village so the Straws
and Tiptons probably came to Broken Bow to get their necessities.
