Fallsburg - George O. Straw, 82, of Lake Street, South Fallsburg, died Wednesday in the Hillcrest Nursing Home, Spring Valley.
He was born in Aurora County, South Dakota, to George and Flora Greet Straw, on Dec. 11, 1892. He married Eleanor Carley on Feb. 12, 1919, in New York.
He was a resident of the area for 37 years, a retired crossman for the New York, Ontario and Western Railroad, and a retired carpenter.
He was a World War I veteran, and a member of the Neversink Valley Post American Legion, from which he received honors in 1969 for being an active member for 50 years.
He is survived by his wife; two sisters, Mrs. Clare Reynolds, of Jackson Heights, Queens, and Mrs. Elsie Mathas, of Camas, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.
Contriubtions may be made to the Fallsburg Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Burial will be in the Grahamsville Cemetery.
