  General Notes:

After her father's death Mary's mother Catherine found employment as a housekeeper for an affluent Dutch family who owned a large farm on Maple Hill Road in Castleton, NY. She is shown living there in 1880 per census of Schodack, NY but Mary and Louis are not listed. (Mary and her brother James Louis born 1874 grew up on this farm.)
Mary would often visit relatives in Albany and she found that she preferred city life to country life. On one of these trips to Albany she met Joseph Foster, whom she fell in love with and married. She soon left the farm life behind her but her brother James Louis remained on the farm until his death in 1945 at age 71.

Mary married Joseph John Foster Sr., son of William Foster and Winifred Agnes Mullen, on 1 Jun 1899 in St. Joseph's Church, Albany, New York. (Joseph John Foster Sr. was born on 24 Nov 1873 in Albany, Albany County, New York, died in Jan 1941 in Albany, Albany County, New York and was buried in St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands, NY.)
