Attending school at St. Joseph's in Albany he met Mary Adele Galvin and married her in 1928. They took the train to NYC in July for their honeymoon.
Prior to his marriage he worked as a helper in an electrical store and then clerked at Cottrell and Leonard, a men's clothing store in Albany. In 1926 he went to work as a cable splicer for New York Telephone Co. It was here that he worked until he retired in the 1960s as a Supervisor of Linemen. In 1972 following gallbladder surgery and complications of emphysema, brought on by a life time of cigarette smoking, he died in St. Peter's hospital at age 69. He is buried in St. Agnes Cemetery.
Joseph married Mary Adele Galvin, daughter of John Paul Galvin and Agnes Cecilia LaRoche, on 2 Jul 1928 in St. Patrick's Church Albany, NY. (Mary Adele Galvin was born on 24 Jan 1906 in Albany, Albany County, New York, died on 18 Jan 1989 in Albany, Albany County, New York and was buried in St, Agnes Cemetery.)
