bullet  General Notes:

I believe her to be Mrs. Hannah( Cass) Swett who married first at the age of 17 or 18 to Daniel Swett. This marriage took place in either 1730 or 1731. She had eight children by this husband. He died and she then married Gideon Straw as a widow (Mrs. Hannah Swett). Research of Rich Turnblom also states this theory and gives her parents names as John Cass and Hannah Gove. Rich also states he believes they had another daughter named MICHAL b 1755 who married Samuel Bartlett. No proof available.
By Gideon she had at least two children. There are conflicting dates of her birth.
Susan Strange also claims that the Straw manuscript at the New England Historic Gen. indicates Gideon and Hannah were also the parents of DAVID. I have not been able to confirm this.
March 1758 Gideon purchased land in Nottingham, NH. He does not mention a wife..Hannah perhaps dead by this time?
research of Donald Swett claims Hannah was born a Swett but VR of Essex claim Gideon married MRS Hannah Swett which would indicate this is not her maiden name.

Don Higgins [researcher of Straw lines in Maine] claims she was Hannah Mehitable Cass Swett when she and Gideon married.

per Sur Phaneuf: There actually are two records, for the same date [4 Feb 1731], claiming that a Daniel Swett married a Mehitable Cass and that a Daniel Swett married a Hannah Cass. According to the Swett Genealogy*: DANIEL SWETT (Moses3, Benjamin2, John1), lived at Hampton Falls, where he sold land in 1740 and 1766. He bought land in Brentwood, N. H., in 1767. He married, 4 Feb. 1730-1, Hannah Cass, dau. of John and Hannah (Gove) of Mendon, Mass., who was born at Hampton, 2 Oct. 1713. Hannah, widow of Daniel Swett of Brentwood, Hannah widow of Israel Smith deceased of Brentwood, and Thomas and Elizabeth Smith of Unity, N. H., sold to Richard Bean land in Brentwood. The following children of Daniel and Hananh Swett are recorded at Hampton Falls and on Quaker records.
Hannah's children with Daniel Swett:
HANNAH b. 21 Dec. 1731.
SARAH b. 4 Aug. 1733.
COMFORT (or CONTENT) b. 25 Feb. 1734.
MARY b. 2d of 10th month, 1737

Most Cass researchers list Hannah & Mehitable as being twins, born October 02, 1713. Unfortunately, no one seems to know what happened to her. [Ref: Cass, Earle Millard. "Ada Ball Cass, Descendant of John Cass 1620-1675". Priv. Pub. (1945). History of Hampton, NH]. The Amesbury VR has "Hannah or Mehitable Cass, d. John, of Mendon, and Hannah."
