Jason Deloyd Straw, 91, Ohio City, Ohio, peacefully went to meet his Savior Jan. 2, 2016.
He was born in Glenmore, Ohio, Oct. 22, 1924, to the late Richard Straw and Leona (Gehres) Straw. He married Betty June Rickard July 3, 1948, at St. Mark's Church in Van Wert, Ohio. In a time when it was common for two brothers to marry two sisters, his brother, Robert, married Betty's sister, Donna.
He was a jack of all trades: farmer, truck driver, World War II Air Force mechanic and pilot, vice president of engineering, but most importantly a faithful husband, caring father, loving grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. He will be remembered as a generous man with an infectious laugh and a bit of a sweet tooth who enjoyed telling stories to share his life lessons. He loved seeing his family every Sunday for lunches at his home, where everyone '97 family and friends '97 were always welcomed. He was a special man who will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
Among survivors are eight children, Linda (Terry) Stukey of Ohio City, Anthony (Barb) Straw of Aliso Viejo, Calif., Deb Straw of Van Wert; Kathie Straw of Ohio City, Dennis (Terri) Straw of Ohio City, Sue Tinnel of Van Wert, Karen (Doug) Droll of Van Wert and Jay (Jennifer) Straw of Grand Rapids, Mich.; one sister, Beth Ann Davis of Port Orange, Fla.; 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty June (Rickard) Straw; brother, Robert Straw; son, Douglas Straw; and grandson Rusty Straw.
Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Church on German Church Road, rural Van Wert. Burial will be in Evangelical Protestant Cemetery.

Jason married Betty June Rickard, daughter of Oral Eugene Rickard and Goldie Marie Grimm, on 3 Jul 1948 in Van Wert, Ohio. (Betty June Rickard was born on 1 Jun 1925 in Mendon, Mercer County, Ohio, died on 7 Sep 2008 in Ohio City, Van Wert County, Ohio and was buried in Woodland Union Cemetery in Van Wert, Van Wert County, Ohio.)
