Evidently Michael and Ellen migrated to Wichita, Sedgwick Co., Kansas from Iowa, having gone there from Missouri. Their first 2 children were born in MO, the next 3 in Iowa, and the rest in Kansas. The first record of their being in Wichita is found in the 1887 Wichita, Kansas City Directory, which lists:
Dermody, M., fr. MO, Plumber, 120 N. Market, res. 1027 S. Water.
Brother-in-law, John Quinn is also listed in this directory, working in the plumbing trade with him... in the 1888 and 1889 directories, as well.

Death certificate #502, dated Oct. 30, 1902, filed Nov. 1, 1903 states date of death as Oct. 27, 1902, birth as July of 1851, age as 51 years, place of death as 141 Lulu St., Ward 6, Wichita, Kansas. Length of residence in city was 16 years, place of previous residence as St. Louis, MO; burial was in the Catholic Cemetery.

" have in my file a Michael Dermody and an Ellen Quinn who had a child named Joseph Patrick Dermody baptized October 26, 1879, at St. Bridget of Ern Catholic Church, 2401 Carr St., St. Louis, Missouri, USA 63106. The reason they are in my file is that he attended the same church as my g-g-aunt Nellie E. Bumberry (Dermody). I do not know how the are related yet, but I am working on.
