"30 Apr 1835 - Sold 125 clapboards to Deacon W Woodard. Went to Nathaniel
Jordan's house, with Stephen Foss and appraised stock for N & T Jordan. Boys
hauled dirt into old cellar. Had nine pigs. Came pleasent weather. Saw
Josiah Straw sowing wheat first for the season. Wind NW & N."
(research of Sue Phaneuf) According to the Lewiston, Maine Tax Records Record of County and Town Tax for 1837, a Nathaniel Sleeper & Josiah Straw lived in the town. Betsey Ham [b. 18 MAR 1781] married Jonathan Sleeper and was the mother of Ruth [b. Jun 1804]. Could they be 'tending' to Josiah?
