STRAW, Irving William . . age 72; died Dec 10, 1953 (born c1881); spouse: Marie Briggs (Biggs?)
"Irving W. STraw, 72, of Langlade Dies"
Irving W. Straw, 72, of Langlade died at 10:40 pm Wednesday at the Langlade Co. Memorial hospital. He had been ill for the past 3 weeks.
Mr. Straw was born Sept 30, 1881 at Jefferson and attended school there graduating form Jefferson high school. After Graduation he took up the Shoemaking trade which he followed after moving to Chicago and later to Denver.
He was married in Denver in 1909 to Marie Biggs who survives.
Prior to moving to Milwaukee in 1924 he resided at St. Louis, Chicago and Racine. In Milwaukee he was employed by the Weinberg Shoe company until retiring in 1941.
Following his retirement he spent summers in Langlade and winters in Milwaukee, but lived in Langlade continuously since 1946.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter Mrs. Howard Jornlin of Milwaukee; a son, Hubert Straw of Antigo; three brothers, Herbert and Oliver of West Allis, and Arthur of Astoria Ore.; and a sister Mrs. George Luehring of West Allis.
Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
The Body will lie in state at the Soman-Bradley funeral chapels form 7 p.m. this evening until noon Friday when the body will be removed to Milwaukee to lie in state at the Borquardt funeral home in West Allis.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. George Krupp of West Allis will Officiate.
Interment will be in the family lot at Highland Memorial Park cemetery at West Allis.
DOD Dec 09, 1953 Obit appeared in the Antigo Daily Journal Dec 10, 1953. If you are not familiar with the area Langlade is also the name of a community on the east side of Langlade Co.
