Louis E. Beyer

Louis E., third son of Philip and Louisa Scheerer Beyer, was horn in the town of New Bremen and married Lillian Gates, Decem- ber 22, 1887.
He devoted the first year of his married life to farming in the town of Denmark. While residing in Naumburg he worked with his team at any available tasks to be done in that vicinity.
In 1894, he bought the stage route, from Croghan to Castor- land, which he sold in 1901.
He was an expert horseman and during his life he owned many horses, also, was engaged in the livery business in Castorland for many years.
He later became an efficient salesman of farm implements in the surrounding towns. In this service,,he continued until his death in 1922.
He made Castorland his dwelling place for more than twenty years, and lived to see his six living children married and settled in their nearby homes.
Lillian Gates, daughter of Linus and Lucretia Gates, was born April 4, 1865, in Carthage.
She attended the schools of Carthage and Lowville and taught school before her marriage.
She is well known as a most systematic housekeeper and through- out her home life set standards of cleanliness, order, morality and happiness.
She continues to reside at the home in Castorland.

FOURTH GENERATION
Ruth A. eldest daughter of Louis E. and Lillian Gates Beyer, married August F. Krueger, December 28, 1921.
He was born September 2, 1899, in New York City.
Lillian Louisa, second daughter of Louis E. and Lillian Gates Beyer, married Herbert Schantz, August 24, 1911.
He was born May 1886, in Castorland.
L. Charles, eldest son of Louis E- and Lillian Gates Beyer, mar- ried Ada Hirschey, March 22, 1916.
She was born July 29, 1888, in Castorland.
Dean P., second son of Louis E. and Lillian Gates Beyer, mar- ried Cleo Briggs, November 19, 1919.
She was born April 6, 1894, in Castorland.
Leslie, youngest son of Louis E. and Lillian Gates Beyer, mar- ried Ruth Kirschner, October 11, 1921.
She was born March 20, 1896, in New Bremen.
Marian, youngest daughter of Louis E. and Lillian Gates Beyer, married Louis Sturtze, June 14, 1921.
He was born November 15, 1896, in Rutland
Children of Marion Beyer Sturtze and Louis Sturtze:
Doris Louise, born July 29, 1922, in Castorland.
Children of Ruth A. and August F. Krueger: Margaret Ruth, born June 1, 1923.
