It is with great sadness that the family of the late Lloyd Sparkes announces his sudden passing on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, in St. John's in his 85th year. He leaves to mourn with loving memories, his wife Betty, his children: Christine (John), Jackie, Donna (Bruce) and Darren, his step-children: Gloria (Alvin), Dwight (Elaine) and Brian (Jocelyn), his grandchildren: Michael, Christopher, Tammy, Matthew, Sara, Samantha, Mark, Paul and Cory, his step-grandchildren: Tina, Ken, Dwayne, Shanson, Corina, Christopher and Crystal, as well as several great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by his sister Brada Parsons and brother Melvin Sparkes. He was predeceased by his wife Cora and his daughter Iris, and also by his parents and several siblings. Friends may visit St. Matthew's Anglican Church, 122 Main Street North in Rocky Harbour on Tuesday, from 7-9 pm and on Wednesday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral service to take place from St. Matthew's Anglican Church on Thursday, February 25th at 2 pm with Rev. Canon-Terry Rose officiating with the Rt. Bishop Whitten. Interment will follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador. The Family would like to thank Dr. Melanie Young, the staff of Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook and the staff of St. Clares Mercy Hospital in St. John's. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Iris Hayter (nee Sparkes) announce her sudden passing in Fort McMurray, Alberta on Friday, December 27, 2013 at the age of 57. Iris was raised in Rocky Harbour, NL and lived in Corner Brook, NL with her husband, Frederick Hayter (deceased) and two sons: Paul and Cory, before moving to Fort McMurray, Alberta. She will be sadly missed by her partner, Edward (Ted) Tucker; two sons: Paul and Cory (Shawna and grandson, Stephen); mother, Cora Sparkes (deceased); father, Lloyd Sparkes and stepmother, Betty Dyke (Sparkes); sisters: Christine Drudge (John Kennedy) of Pasadena, NL, Jackie Wilson of Oshawa, Ontario, Donna Burgess (Bruce) of Angus, Ontario and brother, Darren of Ottawa, Ontario; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will be receiving family and friends from Parsons Funeral Home & Chapel, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake, NL, on Sunday, January 5th, 2014 from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., where also the funeral service will take place on Monday, January 6th, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. with Bishop Leonard Whitten officiating. As per Iris' wishes, cremation will follow, with a burial to follow at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home & Chapel, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake, NL.
