  General Notes:

The McCarthy siblings & their families are sad to announce the passing of their beautiful mom, Marguerite McCarthy, on Wednesday, March 29th, 2023 surrounded by her loving family at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Centre at the age of 95 years.
Mom, we remember…we didn't have a lot of money for treats, but you'd walk to the store & get some on "Baby Bonus" day. We all didn't get to go the dance, but we all got to go in our turn. We'd always get the one thing we wanted at Christmas, remembering opening up our stockings (aka wool socks) & smelling that Christmas apple & orange, spying those grapes & thinking how much we looked forward to that all year. We remember your homemade toast & Fry's Cocoa on a cold winter morning. Oh & that bread! You baked every other day & it was the stuff of legend in the neighborhood! We remember coming home to home cooked meals of beans, stews & soups; desserts of pudding you whipped up out of flour & sugar & not much else. We remember your acceptance of our friends & how they all felt welcomed by you, how they confided in you and loved you!
You were the glue that held our family together, you were our soft place to land…our mom, nanny, great-nanny, dad's Maggie…we cannot imagine our lives without you, but we know you are forever with us in our hearts and in our beautiful memories of you.
We remember your faith & strength and how it got us through the tough times. We remember the sacrifices you made to be able to do all that you did for us. We are so grateful & so blessed. We remember LOVE because of you. Thank you Momma! Rest peacefully in the arms of the Lord & with the angels & saints you worshipped so faithfully.
Marguerite was predeceased by: loving husband Garrett; baby daughter Jacinta; parents Bridget and Thomas Walsh; brother Lawrence; and brother-in-law Mike Dober.Marguerite leaves to mourn with many loving and precious memories: sons: Larry (Kathy), Paul (Glenda), Glen (Cindy), Gary, Tony (Shelley), and Perry (Lori Park); daughters: Yvonne (Rick) Bannon, Ursula (Lew) Hann, Sharon McCarthy, Carol McCarthy, and Kelly McCarthy; grandchildren: Eric, Stephanie, Sarah, Luke, Jacinta, Madison, Kyle, Alex, Kassidy, Ethan, Marcus, Jonathan, Sydney, Emma, Emily, Niall, and Kelsey; great-grandchildren: Quinn, Sloane, Nicholas, Oliver, Lena, Elliott, Adeline, and Rosalie (and 2 on the way); brother Peter (Sylvia) Walsh; sister Marie Dober; and special niece Michelle Dober; as well as a large circle of extended family and friends.
A visitation will take place on Sunday, April 2nd at 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 PM from Russell's Funeral Home, Stephenville. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 3rd at 10:00 AM from St. Stephen's Parish, West Street. Interment to follow at Hillside Interfaith Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations in Marguerite's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to the staff & management of Corner Brook Long Term Care. You took care of our mom like she was your own ("she was everyone's nan"). The respect, care & dignity you showed our mom will live on in our hearts forever. She loved each & every one of you.

Marguerite married Garrett McCarthy, son of John Thomas McCarthy and Agnes Mary Walsh. (Garrett McCarthy was born on 2 Sep 1929 in Red Island, Newfoundland and died on 20 Nov 2018 in Stephenville, , Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.)
