bullet  General Notes:

History of Monmouth and Wales, Volume 1
By Harry Hayman Cochrane - marriage and DOD

There is a burial in Monmouth Center Cemetery for a Lydia Gilman age 22 who died 4 Oct 1803 and was "wife of "Robert Gilman" .....VR on www.familysearch.com indicate all children of Robert with mother named "Lydia". I found death certificates on file on www.familysearch.com that indicate at least Robert L. Gilman and Charles R. Gilman list their mother as Hannah Lyon(s). A fam tree on www.ancestry.com also states Wm S. Gilman's mother was Hannah Lyon. I will assign all of Robert's children as borne by Hannah Lyon unless there is documentation to prove otherwise.

The census of 1800 for Monmouth, ME lists Robert Gilman as HOH. There is one male born between 1790 and 1800 and would indicate a probable son. Robert is the male born between 1775 and 1784. The female born 1775-1784 would be Lydia Straw as she did not die until 1803.
