All research as of Sept 1999 passed to me by B. Baumann the great grand daughter of this couple.
She says he was commonly known as Justin. He was a farmer and Baptist by religion and on his headstone is a Masonic symbol.

William J Bennett, aged about 62, died very suddenly at the home of Edward McNally, Sunday evening. He was one of a family of twenty-one children, was born in this town, and nearly his whole life had been spent in this vicinity. He came from Mechanicsville last fall to spend the winter here. Funeral services were held at the Baptist chuch, Wednesday afternoon, Rev. J. W. Ashworth officiating. Relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were his wife and Nason and Chauncey Bennett of Mechanicsville; Mr. and Mrs. Palmer of Troy; Mrs. Mary McNally and Mrs F.A. William married Mary Jane Hymes, daughter of Private and Private, about 1862. (Mary Jane Hymes was born about 1837 in VT, died on 17 Jul 1909 in Green Island, NY and was buried in MT Hope Cemetery in Ticonderoga, NY.)
