My father is Harry Straw and my grandfather is James Edward (Anson) Straw. I am looking for any info on James Edward (Anson) and Kitty Olive (Katherine) Straw children. G____...killed today...when...struck by...railroad locomotive while enroute to a WPA project on Credit Island where he was employed.....Edward Straw, 3221 Daisy Avenue who was with G__ said he and G___were walking east on railroad tracks in the Rock Island Lines yards. "I heard the train coming from the west," Straw told police. "I got off the track and yelled at G___but I guess he didn't hear me and the train hit him."

James Edward Straw, 88, of Mounted Route No. 4, Davenport, died Wednesday in his home, after an extended illness.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Runge Chapel. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.
Born in Vermont, he married Katherine Gartrell in 1911 in Minnesota.
He was a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Edward and Harry, both of Davenport; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Martin, Davenport, and Mrs. Frances Lasley, New Liberty, and 16 grandchildren.
Preceded in death by 3 sons and 3 daughters

James married Bessie Mae King, daughter of Will King and Mahala Emmeline Gartrell, on 21 Apr 1904 in Gravity, Taylor County, Iowa. The marriage ended in divorce on 29 Apr 1909. (Bessie Mae King was born on 14 May 1888 in St. Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri, died on 30 Jan 1949 in Red Oak, Montgomery County, Iowa and was buried in Elmwood Cemetery in Morning Sun, Iowa.)
