Janice was the eldest daughter of the late Merton and Irene (Hann) Straw; w/o Willie D. Judd, Sr., whom she married on June 14, 1955.
She was raised on the family farm on Hereford Hill and attended local schools until she moved to Pittsburg as a teenager to live with relatives, and attend Pittsburg High School. She later proudly became a U.S. citizen.
As a young woman, Janice worked outside the home cleaning cabins locally and sewing at MMI ("the coat factory") in Colebrook, NH. Her most important job was raising her busy family, assisting her husband with his successful real estate business, and caring for him during his lengthy illness.
Janice met the love of her life, Willie D. Judd, Sr., while in high school. They wed on June 14, 1955, and celebrated 56 years of marriage before his passing in 2011. They made their home and raised their family on Judd Road in Pittsburg, where she remained until recently, when she went to live with her children in Pittsburg in the summer and Florida in the winter.
A kind woman with a generous and loving heart, Janice will forever be remembered for her beautiful white hair and her constant smile. She loved birds, butterflies, and flowers. In earlier years, she was an avid gardener, growing the family's vegetables and her flowers. She was a talented seamstress, creating may beautiful quilts for family and friends, which will be cherished forever.
Janice was a long time member of the Aurora Grange and the Farnham Memorial United Methodist Church, both in Pittsburg. She was a tireless worker for the UMWM, raising funds to support her beloved church. She was also a founder and a member of the group that created the Pittsburg tennis courts in the 1970s, and she and Willie donated the land the courts now sit on.
Janice's greatest joy was her family. She loved family gatherings and being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She rarely missed an event in their lives and spent countless hours in the stands watching hundreds of soccer, basketball, baseball, and softball games over the years. She was especially proud of her grandchildren's accomplishments and made sure they all knew it. Her love was unconditional.
Missing her greatly are her five children, Willie Judd, Jr. and wife Nancy of Pittsburg; Richard Judd and companion Bev Lord of Pittsburg; Kevin Judd of Pittsburg; Kim Chase and husband Warren of Pittsburg; and Vincent Judd and wife Christine of Keystone Heights, Florida; her siblings, Bernard Straw and wife Marjorie, Barbara Howe and husband Floyd, and Carlene Prehemo and husband Robert, all of Pittsburg; two brothers -in-law, Burnham "Bing" Judd of Pittsburg and Archie Judd, Sr. of West Stewartstown; her grandchildren, Kilee Willey, Jodi Young, Jensen Giroux, Kirby Judd, Hunter Judd, Brooke Judd, Morgan Mahlatini, Lindsey Jones, Lincoln Judd, Marcus Chase, Logan Chase, Travis Chase, Nick Windhurst and Tucker Windhurst; and her great-grandchildren, Kaiden Willey, Kendall Willey, Jaylyn Young, Jaclyn Young, Vera Giroux, Payton Perigney, and Madison Jones.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Roland, and her granddaughter Kellye Rae Judd Chase.
