bullet  General Notes:

recollections of AFO'Connor (brother) -
Thomas Vincent who was known by his family as Vincent was about six when his mother died. He was then adopted by a family by the name of GRUNTHER or Gunther who had one other son. Jean Selig O'Connor, wife of Michael his brother, said he "worked at the US Air Base in Stephenville, NFLD during the war years and for some time after..."
In 1980, A.F. O'Connor and his wife Mary Moore O'Connor, went to Newfoundland. They learned that Vincent's widow lived in Marystown, but were unable to reach her by phone. As they started home they stopped to stay overnight in Port au Basque and the propriorter of the motel told them he used to live across the street from Vincent and his wife in Marystown.

per Sacred Heart Church records he was born at Clattice Harbor December 21, 1904 and his godparents were George Folliott(sic) and Annie Dunphy

per Ann Maria O'Connor Rogers he was a teacher in Petite Forte at one time.

"...our father Vincent was a teacher at St, Bon's college in St. John's, NL for a couple of years. Our parents moved to Stephenville, NL in 1943.
My dad worked at Harmon Air Force Base, Stephenville, NL....There is also a disagreement among us that dad went to St. Bon's as a student not as a teacher and that he did teach somewhere else but we are not sure where."

200130 - per his daughter Jessie he went to ST. Bonnaventure college in St. John's c 1921 and remained there for 2 years. He then went to Petit Forte to teach and did so for about two years. From there he went to Marystown where he worked in a co-op grocery store. He married his wife and lived there for the first few years of his marriage and his first three children were born there.
