MRS. MIKE FELTHAUSER DEAD
SHE HAS BEEN SICK FOR SOME TIME - A SMALL ROMANCE
Mrs. Elsina Felthauser died this afternoon at 1 o'clock at her home, 614 Seventh Avenue. She had been sick for some time with heart trouble, requiring constant attention. She was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, September 16, 1836, and made that her home until her marriage on July 1, 1866.
In this connection there is a very pretty romance. Mr. Felthauser was a member of the First Nebraska Regiment and served until he was mustered out. The regiment reached Omaha on Saturday and the Major stated that the members could not be paid off until Monday, as it was so late that the records could not be made out. Mr. Felthauser borrowed the Major's horse and rode over the Council bluffs to visit with friends and Sunday while riding near the heard of Broadway he saw a young lady drawing water from a well and he stopped and asked for a drink. She gave him the drink, and the lady proved to be a sister of a member of the company of which Mike was a member. He did not take long to form an acquaintance, and the result was that the couple were married that afternoon. As Mike said, "She married the soldier in his uniform."
They came to this city some twenty-two years ago and have since made their home here. She was the mother of four children, of whom two survive her, Fred and Mrs. Lena Straw. She was a member of the Lutheran church, and the funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the family home and will be private. The services will be conducted by Rev. J. W. Koser.
