James Franklin Straw born 6-11-1884 Nevada, Story Co., Iowa. He married Effie Armstrong 4-7-1907 Pratt, Pratt Co, Kansas by Minister W.F.Brown. He later moved to Illinois.He died after 1966 in Chicago. They had only one son Merle J. Straw born 8-8-1907 Preston, Pratt County, Kansas. Died 7-26-1977 in Bradenton,Manatee County, Florida, with no next of kin, per his estate records. By 1920 Effie had remarried Charles McAllister born in New York, They can be found in the 1920 Minden, Montgomery Co, NY. census. Merle can be found in the 1930 Navy Yard, Kitsap, Washington State census.Effie later married Hugh Smith.

James married Effie Armstrong, daughter of James W Armstrong and Martha L Aram, on 7 Apr 1907 in Pratt, Pratt County, KS. (Effie Armstrong was born on 14 Aug 1888 in Kansas.)
